So, how important is it to hydrate?
It was an unbearable winter this year. She hung around longer than any unwanted house guest. Finally, summer has arrived - YES!! - and with it the heat, relentless blistering heat if you are not careful. In our previous blog, we wrote about fitness and different ways of working out during the summer. What we did not mention, however, is one of the most important things about the fitness and health during the summer: Hydration.
About 75% of Americans suffer from dehydration. Many people know that drinking water is beneficial to one’s body, one’s lean machine, but not many people are willing to drink sufficient amounts of water to stay properly hydrated. About 60% of our body weight is water.Water is vital to everyday life and to healthy living. Precious H2O plays an integral role in nearly every biological process in the body including but not limited to digestion, can alleviate constipation, helps blood flow, helps one keep weight in check, and boosts mood. The common saying is that we must all drink eight glasses of water each day to be hydrated. However this is a myth - no two bodies are identical to each other. How to know if you’re dehydrated
Here are some signs of deydration: moodiness, crankiness, fatigue, headache, upset stomach. You might even think that you are hungry, but you may just be craving some delicious, calorie-free water! In order to prevent dehydration, you can log your water intake. Monitoring what goes in your body is a helpful and easy way to see how your body responds to external changes.
