  • Want to Relax Better?

Today, we wanted to write about relaxing and getting better sleep. Nowadays, life is hectic and technology often adds to that sense of anxiety (we added motivations because they came up at dinner last night).

DIGRESSION: At dinner last night, we were discussing motivations: anxiety, passion, sense of competitiveness. What drives you? Why will you succeed? What is your motivation?

You work from 8 to 6 (or rather, that’s when you are in your office - with smartphones, the end of one day and the beginning of the next tend to melt into each other and deciphering the difference is often impossible). There are children to worry about, mortgages to pay, things to plan, etc. etc. etc. We are so busy that we often neglect carving out a chunk of time to relax! Some of us don’t even know how to relax...let alone sleep. Our heads are filled with thoughts about what needs to happen the next day, what boxes we checked, and what we need to remember. Hopefully, with these awesome and easy TIPS, you’ll be able to sleep better and relax more effectively!

    1. Nibble on some chocolate:

Dark chocolate can regulate your levels of cortisol, the stress hormone. It can also stabilize your metabolism. Just do not get carried away ;)

    2. Chew gum:

In one study, people who chewed gum twice a day for two weeks felt less anxious than those who did not. (link: http://greatist.com/happiness/does-chewing-gum-reduce-anxiety) - we recommend sugar free gum #respectyourteeth !!

    3. Drink tea

Instead of coffee drink some Ginseng tea, which is good for your metabolism and battles anxiety! - Watch out for caffeinated teas. That can be sneaky and there are plenty of teas that will help you feel more relaxed.

    4. Do something targeted toward fitness

When you exercise, your brain releases endorphins. This hormone can improve your mood and combat depression. - It’s where a #runnershigh comes from!!

    5. Make lists - organization does not have to be difficult

We are always planning ahead in our minds. Instead, plan ahead on paper! Write down a list of things that you have to do for the next day or the next week and then let it go! Then you can check boxes and literally see your tasks getting accomplished. #feelgood

    6. Go on Youtube

Stressed at work? Take a break to watch one of your favorite funny youtube stars like Ryan Higa or Jenna Marbles. - Just make sure to stay work appropriate and limit your time. #mentalbreak

    7. Deskercise

Do you lack time to workout? Workout in the office by doing leg raises! push up on your chair and flex your abs. Small exercises add up throughout the day.

    8. Read a book

If you toss and turn for more than 15 minutes when you’re trying to sleep, get up and read something. Focusing your thoughts can help a disorganized mind.
